There are thousands of scholarships available for the asking. Many scholarships are available through local and regional golf and superintendent associations. In addition, countless other scholarships may be available in connection to a multitude of other categories (ex: cancer survivors, Native Americans, veterans etc.).

Search the internet and go to the library to find the scholarship(s) that are right for you. Get creative and take some time to find all of your financial aid opportunities. Here's a list of turf scholarships to get you started:

American Indian College Fund
The American Indian College Fund offers scholarships and other support to help American Indian students access quality higher education and succeed while they are there. In addition to financial assistance, the American Indian College Fund provides cultural and language preservation courses and activities. Backed by Bayer Plant Health Scholarship
Bayer offers two Class A or superintendent members (SM) of GCSAA a $2,500 scholarship for continuing education in the area of plant health. Applicants must be employed as a golf course superintendent within the US, be a Class A or superintendent member (SM) of the GCSAA and be enrolled in My Bayer Rewards customer loyalty program. Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Inc. in Maryland
The Drew Smith Memorial Scholarship honors Drew Smith, a Superintendent from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, who worked in turf management for 13 years. He loved golf and volunteered his time at tournaments around the country, but passed away unexpectedly due to a heart condition in 2003. This scholarship was created by his family, friends, and colleagues to assist a turfgrass management student who shares Drew's passion for golf, determination, and financial need. Eastern Shore Chapter GCSA in Maryland/Delaware
The ESAGCS has awarded more than $70,000 to over 80 students through their Founders Scholarship and Drew Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarships. Applicants must work for an ESAGCS member and be pursuing a career in turf management. They must fill out the application completely and include the mailing address of the admissions office for the school they will be attending. GCSAA Legacy Awards
This program provides scholarship assistance to the children and grandchildren of GCSAA members who have been active Class A, Class B, Class C, Class A-Retired, or Class AA members for five or more consecutive years. GIE Media's Horticultural Scholarship
GIE Media serves various markets including lawn and landscape, nursery, greenhouse, garden centers, and golf courses. They are also the parent company of Golf Course Industry, and have established this scholarship to support college students working toward a degree or certificate in horticulture, environmental science, or other fields related to the green industry. Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
GCSAA believes in investing in the future of golf and administers several scholarships for students pursuing careers in the golf course industry, future turfgrass researchers, children and grandchildren of GCSAA members, and foreign students studying in the US. Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship
The Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship is a yearly program that was established to recognize the efforts of learners who are improving their lives through continuing education and workforce development. Mid-Atlantic Association of Golf Course Superintendents
Scholarship applicants must be an employee of a MAAGCS member and have completed one year of employment for that member. Applicants must show an interest in pursuing a degree or certificate in turfgrass management and will need recommendations from their superintendent or a college advisor. New York State Turfgrass Association (NYSTA) Scholarship
Students who are working toward a degree in turfgrass science or a closely-related curriculum may be eligible to apply for a NYSTA Scholarship. The candidate must be a member of the New York State Turfgrass Association and be entering their second year/session of school. North Dakota Golf Association / North Central Turf Grass Association
The North Dakota Golf Association and The North Central Turf Grass Association are offering scholarships to qualified applicants in golf course/turf management studies. Visit http://www.nctga.net/scholarships for more information and to apply.


Par Aide's Joseph S. Garske Collegiate Grant Program
The goal of this program is to assist GCSAA members' children in funding their education at either an accredited college or trade school. It is available to the children of GCSAA members who have been an active member for five or more consecutive years. The annual deadline is March 15. Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation
The Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers post-secondary scholarships to current year high school graduates, who are survivors of cancer. Total Landscape Care Scholarship
Randall-Reilly, an 80+ year old Alabama based publisher of print and web content in a number of industry verticals is now offering a $5,000 scholarship program. This scholarship is being offered by one of Randall-Reilly's flagships brands, Total Landscape Care. Trans-Miss Turf Scholarship Fund
The Trans-Mississippi Golf Association has become a national leader in assisting young men and women pursuing careers in turf management since granting its first scholarship in 1953. Students studying turf management at a number of schools across the country, including Rutgers, have received Trans-Miss Scholarships. Funds for the scholarships come from member club dues and contributions by individuals and corporations, as well as interest from the association's Endowment Fund.
